How do I got my YouTube Custom URL!

Today, I just got custom URL for my YouTube channel. It was not much simple to obtain it. Since my YouTube Channel is fairly new and I do not have many subscribers, so it was hard to obtain a custom URL.

According to YouTube's terms, account should fulfill some requirements to obtain a custom URL. These requirements are like atleast of 100 subscribers, 30days old YouTube channel and many more. You can see the entire eligibility criteria at https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2657968?hl=en

How did I got my custom URL?
Yes! I got my custom URL as youtube.com/theakhilarya even when I don't have 100 subscribers. But in eligibility criteria there was a way to do so, i.e., a website owner can register to custom URL's. And since I own a blog theakhilarya.blogspot.com .So I used this to get a custom URL. But the rest of process was also not so simple. The custom URL specified for was like this,

youtube.com/AkhilArya______

(This blank has to be filled with some suffix)

So I was unhappy with this, because if have to mix my URL with some suffix then what is the point of getting a custom URL in first place. So I did some investigation that how it specifies custom URL. The result I came up with was that it was picking my display name from Google+. So I went to my Google+ account  and changed my name to theakhilarya. This changed the scenario and I was able to register the custom URL. After getting a custom URL, I again went back to my Google+ account and changed my name back to Akhil Arya. All done! my name was correct and I also got custom URL for my YouTube channel.

You all can also use this same method to obtain you custom URL for your YouTube channel.
